Obituary for Russell McLean
Russell McLean, age 76 and retired Orange Chief of Police, entered into rest on Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Milford Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Marta McLean and the late Eileen Carducci McLean. He was born in Derby on February 11, 1932, son of the late Harry G. and Helen (Drew) McLean, and lived in Orange for most of his life.
Chief McLean served his country with the US Navy during the Korean conflict, and went on to serve in the Orange Police Department for over 30 years. He retired as Chief of the Orange Police Department in 1990. He was Past President of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, and was a member of the Orange Rotary Club and the Orange Chamber of Commerce.
He is the beloved father of Scott F. McLean and his wife Sharon, and Rochelle M. Kingsley, all of Wallingford. He is also survived by a brother, Harry McLean and his wife Betty of Albuquerque, NM, a sister, Janice Curtis of Shelton, four grandsons, Gregory and Jeffrey McLean and Alan and Drew Kingsley, and one great granddaughter, Mackenzie McLean, and is also survived by his step-mother Charlotte McLean of Stratford.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday from 3 to 7 PM. On Friday, his funeral service will held at the Riverview Funeral Home at 11AM, officiated by Rev. Robert Deming of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Center Cemetery.
